ARRL Cyber Attack

As noted in the updates on the ARRL home page (LATEST NEWS – ARRL Systems Service Disruption), the ARRL was a victim of a major cyber-attack by a malicious cyber group. This was not a simple attack.

The industry-recognized professionals and law enforcement agencies with whom the ARRL is working (including the FBI) have been guiding the ARRL in what information can be released. The latest update was on July 2, 2024.

July Board Meeting

The next Board Meeting is July 19 (Friday) and 20 (Saturday) in Hartford, Connecticut. Several committee meetings occur on the Thursday before the Board Meeting, and Brent N9BA and I will be there on Thursday for our respective committee meetings.

The motion about Board Member conduct and expectations that was to be presented at the January 2024 Board Meeting was withdrawn for more work. This work continues and the motion will likely not be offered at the July 2024 Board Meeting.

I’m not aware of any other major motions that may be brought up. But I’m sure there will be some that will generate interesting discussion!

Section Elections

All three Sections Managers in the Central Division were up for re-election this year. W9RY IL SM and KC9FXE WI SM ran unopposed. AK9R IN SM was challenged by W9BGJ and AK9R was re-elected.

Division Election

The 2024 Division election cycle includes the Central Division. This means both the Director and Vice Director role will be open for nominations in the near future. Please check the ARRL website or page 76 of the July 2024 QST for information on the timing of the election cycle.

Conventions
